2018-19 DCS Peer Challenge Arrangements

Update:

Congratulations to Brighton and Hove, Buckinghamshire and West Berkshire (Triad 5) who have agreed Tuesday 26 February 2019 for their challnege day. They join Hampshire and IoWMilton Keynes and Slough (Triad 3) who have agreed Friday 15 February 2019 for theirs. Isabelle Gregory (contact details below) will be in touch to chase progress with other Traids.

Thanks to the 10 colleagues who have signed and returned their MoUs.

We are working on the next iteration of the Regional Improvement Plan, which will be circulated ahead of the next SE ADCS meeting on 5 October.

Action Required:

Detailed arrangements are under way for the peer challenge of self-assessment arrangements that will culminate in the Regional Improvement Summit on 22 March 2019 – please save this date for DCSs and Lead Members.

Also please save the date 30 November 2018 for DCSs and management team members for the regional training and preparation day. Please contact Anna Wright for more details, and Isabelle Gregory to book your places. Thanks to the 23 deleagtes from 9 authorities who have already booked places.

Thanks to 15/19  for sharing Annual Conversation letters. (still missing Bracknell Forest, Medway, Reading and Surrey), and only three more self-assessemnts needed for a full set (Medway, Reading, and Surrey awaited); thanks to the other 16 for sharing.

The MoC area of the Seslip website now includes the latest versions of key documents, including the:

The revised guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education 2018 was released on the 20 May 2018 and can be found here. The statutory guidance will come into force on 3 September 2018 and will replace KCSiE 2016. One key addition is a new part (part 5) on advice for schools on responding to and supporting young victims of sexual violence and harassment.

NSPCC has produced a briefing document highlighting the main changes in the new version compared to the current one. It can be found here.
